Gov. Emmanuel Wishes Akwa Ibom People Merry Xmas
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has acknowledged the support given him by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, saying that the support has led to the enthronement of the divine mandate.
The Governor stated this during a special interaction with the PDP supporters on the eve of Christmas at the Party Secretariat in Uyo.
Governor Emmanuel noted that his administration has consolidated on the gains of democracy to make PDP a household name in the state and wondered why the opposition party would contemplate dislodging a party which is in firm control of leadership and reiterated his administration’s strong attachment to grassroots, noting that they are the reason for his stay in government.
He announced the release of Inter-ministerial Direct Labour contracts to the people and assured the youths of a prime place in his administration.
In the spirit of the yuletide and acknowledgement of his commitment to the party, Governor Emmanuel announced immediate employment into the state civil service of a physically challenged party member, Mr. Monday Udoh Ukanidem, a school certificate holder from Obot Akara Local Government Area.
The state Governor emphasized on power shift which is the turn of Eket Senatorial District, stating that Uyo and Ikot Ekpene Senatorial Districts have taken their turns.
He said the divine mandate given him by the people remains sacrosanct and cannot be deterred by any contrary verdict as he is poised to make Akwa Ibom State a destination for all through industrialization.
Earlier, the State PDP Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, while welcoming the Governor to the Party Secretariat, said, Akwa Ibom people does not recognize any other Political Party except PDP which has given them the needed development programmes.
The PDP Chairman thanked Governor Emmanuel for the visit and commended the party supporters for their steadfastness, urging them to keep faith in the party.
He pledged to work for the party’s continuous stay in government, while ensuring that the people enjoy the benefits and dividends of good governance.
The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Barrister Onofiok Luke and other party big wigs in the state.
