Gov. Emmanuel Condoles Family Of Late Chief Etiebet
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has commisserated with the family of former Governor of the erstwhile Cross River State, Late Chief Donald Dick Etiebiet.
The Governor who led his cabinet members to the deseased country home, Ikot Ekpuk, in Oruk Anam Local Government Area, described the deceased as an elder statesman who contributed trimendously to the development of the State, by extension Nigeria.
Governor Emmanuel, behalf of the cabinet members, Stakeholders and people of the State, consoled the family, urging them to sustain the legacy of hard work, forth-rightness and petrotism bequethed them.
The eldest son, Barrister Aniekan Etiebiet, who spoke on behalf of the family, expressed appreciation to the Governor for identifying with the family in their moment of grief. He described his late father as a peaceful man who sacrificed his all to the service of God and humanity adding that his father who died at the age of eighty five, had lived a life worthy of emulation.
He said with his passage, the family has lost a gem and prayed for the repose of the soul of the great gentleman.
Also, the younger brother to the deseased, an All Progressive Congress (APC) Chieftain and a one-time Minister of Petroleum, Chief Donard Etiebiet, thanked Governor Emmanuel for leading a high calibre delegation to condole the family.
He described the deceased as a bridge builder and counsellor who supported the emergence of the present government and commended Governor Emmanuel for blazing the trail in the implementation on his industrialisation blueprint.
Chief Don Etiebiet acknowleged the love shown the family by the government and political groups and stated that political difference should not separate the bond of brotherhood but should strengthen the existing harmonious relationship among the political class.
Late Chief Donald Etiebiet would be laid to rest on Friday 11th December 2015,in his home town, Ikot Ekpuk, Oruk Anam Local Government Area.
