Gov. Emmanuel Partners Church In Prayers For New Year
As year 2015 gradually winds down, Christians over the World have celebrated the first Sunday of December amidst pomp and pageantry as some use the service to appreciate God’s benevolence throughout the year.
In Akwa Ibom State, Governor Udom Emmanuel led members of his cabinet to mark the first Sunday at Destiny International Missions Uyo and The Apostolic Mount Olive Church, lkot Ntot in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.
The Governor enjoined Christians to pay greater attention to the voice of God and not that of man and explained that the voice of man could be deceitful whereas God’s voice is truth and righteousness.
He urged Christians to use the end of year to appreciate God for His providence throughout the year and use the occasion to thank God for the peace witnessed in the state as well as the prospect for economic boom which is unfolding.
Governor Emmanuel urged the people to be fervent in prayers for the State especially for the reversal of the spate of ailing industries stressing that whatever may have made almost all the industries to go moribund should pave way for sustainable industralization so that the state which is named after God would flourish in prosperity.
At Destiny International Missions where the first Sunday coincided with the rounding up of the annual convention, the Governor congratulated Arch. Bishop Cletus Bassey, for the significant growth of the Church and called on the people to reflect on their achievements and prayerfully make projections into the new year.
Bishop Cletus Bassey said that the annual convention has witnessed significant outpouring of the Holy Spirit and that many people have been blessed during the spiritual exercise.
Similarly, the 12th Annual Convention of the Apostolic Mount Olive Church which had the Governor as the Special guest, featured the unveiling of the Church Empowerment Programme with the presentation of hair dressing kits, sewing machines and motorcycles to more than forty beneficiaries.
Governor Emmanuel commended the leadership of the Church for keying into the poverty alleviation programme of the state government and donated of additional motorcycles for presentation to other beneficiaries.
Earlier in an address presented by the General Overseer of the Apostolic Mount Olive Church, Prophet David Udo Udo assured the Governor of the Church support in prayers and expressed hope that the prayers will continually foster peace and sustainable development in the state. He thanked the Governor for finding time to worship in the Church alongside members of his cabinet.
